We are wanting to plan two different dance workshops in February and March alongside a couple of other Hungarian folk dance lovers. The goal of these workshops are to learn a specific dance. It is an intense multi hour/day training, which provides a great opportunity to focus only on one dance and learn a lot about it in a short amount of time.
The first single day workshop, which would be catered more towards beginners, is planned to be in February (this is currently tentative, exact time and dance material would be decided if at least 15 people sign up). We would use our local KCSP resource (a Hungarian Government program: Kőrösi Csoma Sándor Program) Vera Pintér for teaching. You can read her introduction here: http://www.austinhungarians.com.
About the first (beginner) workshop, if you are interested, please send a direct message to Hajnalcsillag Hungarian Folk Dance Group on Facebook or email contact@hajnalcsillag.dance so after a go/no go decision we can keep you updated.

The second one we already decided to do and is more of an intermediate course, would be on March 6 (afternoon/night only), 7 and 8 taught by an other KCSP intern couple (they are spending their assignment in New Jersey, the man side of the couple is from the famous village of Méra in Kalotaszeg and performed in Fölszállott a Páva Hungarian TV show with the Kalotaszeg Legénytársulat). Here the material would be Kalotaszegi couple dances from the village of Méra.

From previous experience, to cover the room rental, airfare, accommodation and meals for the teachers, we expect the full workshop entrance fee ~$50/person. After we finalized the location for the workshop, we are going to set up a Facebook event with a payment link so you can sign up for the teaching. It is going to be fun, come and join us!
If you have any question about the workshops, please send us a direct message via our Hajnalcsillag Hungarian Folk Dance Group page on Facebook, or email contact@hajnalcsillag.dance.
We hope you will join us!
