As a Diaspora Scholarship holder, you can receive an internationally recognized degree at a top-level Hungarian higher education institution and acquire highly competitive knowledge to advance both personally and academically. You can choose from a wide range of programs taught in English or Hungarian that cover all higher education fields at all degree levels. At the University of Pécs you can choose between 280 study programs. The Diaspora Scholarship is also an excellent opportunity to build your professional network and discover everything about the country in a supporting and welcoming student environment!
Mission of the Scholarship

The Hungarian Diaspora Scholarship was established by the Hungarian Government for those who live in a Hungarian diaspora outside of Europe and wish to study at a Hungarian higher education institution to develop their personal, professional and cultural relations to Hungary.
The program aims to support the professional advancement of the scholarship holders with high-quality Hungarian higher education while improving their Hungarian language skills and strengthening their Hungarian identity. After graduation, scholarship holders return to their home country with competitive skills and knowledge that enables them to support their community, preserve Hungarian values and reinforce the relations between the diaspora and Hungary.
Who can apply?
You may have the chance to become a Diaspora Scholarship holder, if you are living in a diaspora, or you are a foreign citizen with a foreign address, or you have been living abroad for at least 10 years in a row, or you have been studying abroad in higher education for the past 4 years.
The program is available for the members of a Hungarian diaspora living in any country outside of the European Union, the Republic of Serbia or the Zakarpattia Oblast of Ukraine. You can find further information about diasporas here. The prerequisite to submitting an application is acquiring a recommendation from the local diaspora organization or the Hungarian delegation. Regarding the issuance of the recommendation, it is advised to contact the diaspora organizations and delegations 1 or 2 months prior to submitting the application.
If you are interested, submit your application on the Diaspora Scholarship’s website, the application will be open from 24 November until 15 January.

MAGYAR
Magyarország Kormánya az idei évtől hirdeti a Diaszpóra Ösztöndíjat, mellyel a Kárpát-medencén kívüli, külföldön élő magyarságot, magyar leszármazottakat szeretné megszólítani. Az ösztöndíjprogramban természetesen a Pécsi Tudományegyetem (PTE) is részt vesz,számos magyar- és angol nyelvű képzéssel.
Az ösztöndíjban elnyerhető juttatások a következők:
– Teljes tandíjmentesség
– Egészségügyi biztosítás TAJ kártyán keresztül
– Havi ösztöndíj (külön jelentkezés útján elnyerhető)
– Lakhatási támogatás (külön jelentkezés útján elnyerhető)

A jelentkezőknek magyar származásukat a megfelelő dokumentumokkal kell igazolniuk, illetve szükségük lesz egy támogató levélre a helyi diaszpóra szervezettől, vagy a helyi magyar külképviselettől.
A jelentkezők magyar és idegennyelvű képzésben is részt vehetnek, amennyiben azonban nem magyarul tanulnak, a képzési program végére B2 szintű nyelvvizsgát kell tenniük magyar nyelvből.
A PTE szinte minden képzésével részt vesz a programban, a pontos lista ezen a honlapon lefelé görgetve érhető el. Ez a felület a jelentkezési felület is.
