THE HUNGARIAN FLAG AND COAT OF ARMS

The flag and the coat of arms are symbols of unity of community, of a nation. They have a special meaning for us, the Hungarian people. The main reason for this is that although the borders of Hungary do not coincide with the borders of the Hungarian nation, the nation is still united by its linguistic, cultural and historical traditions. Alongside the national anthem, the Hungarian flag and the national coat of arms are the most important symbols of this unity.

The Hungarian National Assembly has designated March 16th as the Day of the Hungarian Flag and Coat of Arms, and this one of the most important celebrations of our unity. The Research Institute for National Strategy, which has special mission to organize celebration and events related to this commemorative day, is launching a contest for the twelfth year, for pre-school, primary school, secondary school, and higher education students from all over the Carpathian Basin and the world who identify themselves as Hungarians, with the main theme being the Hungarian flag and coat of arm.
